Update on the console table

Yesterday I've cut out the curtains. I decided not to cut the tennons but to try and carve away as much as I can, before I'd do that. The side curtains have the same design as the front (partially) so I'm working on all sides simultaneously. I'm having detailed photographs of the original table at hand to help and guide me.

Have a great weekend, and enjoy this special Sunday,

  7. Thank you all for your kind reactions. It's a rather odd thing to make and I'm not sure if my approach could find the approval of a carpenter? ;) The construction is 'simple' but it's fiddly to match to carving of the curves. And the wood is turning out rather disappointing, i'm sad to say :( It's a new piece of stock and was kept in the same condition as previous pear. But it feels dry and brittle... so it acquires a bit more delicacy. Still, fruitful weekend, hope yours was that way too!

  8. Debora... It is going to be fantastic! You have gotten a lot done already.

I hope you don't have too much trouble with the wood. I can't imagine doing something so difficult and having to fight with the materials or tools you are using. I look forward to seeing your progress.

    Groetjes,
    Gee
